Sweet Corn and Cheese Arepas

Ingredients

  • For the Arepas Dough:
  • 1 cup pre-cooked cornmeal (Harina P.A.N.)
  • 1 cup fresh corn kernels (blended) 🌽
  • 0.5 cup warm milk 🥛
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted 🧈
  • For the Filling:
  • 0.5 cup shredded queso blanco or mozzarella 🧀
  • 1 tbsp butter (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. 11️⃣ Prepare the Dough
  2. 2In a bowl, mix cornmeal, blended corn, warm milk, salt, and melted butter.
  3. 3Knead until a smooth dough forms, then let it rest for 5 minutes.
  4. 42️⃣ Shape the Arepas
  5. 5Divide dough into 4 equal portions and shape into disks.
  6. 6Press a bit of cheese into the center of each disk and seal the edges.
  7. 73️⃣ Cook Until Golden
  8. 8Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt butter.
  9. 9Cook arepas for 4-5 minutes per side, until crispy and golden brown.
  10. 104️⃣ Serve & Enjoy!
  11. 11Let cool slightly, then serve warm with extra butter or cheese on top!
