Prep: 15 minutesCook: 20 minutesTotal: 35 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 pre-made pizza dough or flatbread
- 0.5 cup sofrito sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 0.5 cup cooked ham, diced
- 1 ripe plantain, sliced and fried
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 0.25 tsp salt
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- 1Preheat & Prep: Heat the oven to 400°F (200°C). If using raw pizza dough, roll it out onto a baking sheet or pizza stone.
- 2Sofrito Base: Spread a thin layer of sofrito sauce over the dough, just like you would tomato sauce.
- 3Layer the Flavors: Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the base, followed by the diced ham and crispy fried plantains.
- 4Egg Magic: Make two small wells in the toppings and carefully crack an egg into each well. Drizzle with olive oil.
- 5Bake It: Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, the eggs are set, and the crust is golden.
- 6Finishing Touches: Sprinkle oregano, black pepper, and a little salt on top. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
- 7Slice & Serve: Let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy your Puerto Rican breakfast masterpiece!
