Chuletas Fritas (Crispy Pork Chops) with Tostones

Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops (bone-in) 🥩
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder 🧄
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp dried oregano 🌿
  • Salt and pepper to taste 🧂
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour 🌾
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil (for frying) 🌻
  • For Tostones:
  • 4 green plantains 🍌
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil (for frying) 🌻
  • Salt to taste 🧂
  • Garlic powder (optional) 🧄

Instructions

  1. 1Crispy Pork Chops:
  2. 2Season pork chops with garlic powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  3. 3Coat pork chops evenly with flour, shaking off any excess.
  4. 4Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry pork chops 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. 5Tostones:
  6. 6Peel plantains and slice into 1-inch thick rounds.
  7. 7Heat vegetable oil in a skillet. Fry plantain slices until golden on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. 8Remove plantains and press flat using a tostonera or flat surface.
  9. 9Fry flattened plantains again until crispy, about 2 minutes per side.
  10. 10Drain on paper towels, sprinkle with salt and a pinch of garlic powder if desired.
