Tostones with Garlic Sauce

Ingredients
- 2 green plantains 🍌
- 2 cups vegetable oil 🛢️
- 4 garlic cloves, minced 🧄
- 2 tbsp olive oil 🫒
- 1 tbsp fresh lime juice 🍋
- Salt to taste 🧂
- Optional: chopped parsley or cilantro 🌿
Instructions
- 1Peel & Slice 🍌
- 2Cut off plantain ends, slice skin lengthwise, and peel. Slice into 1-inch thick rounds.
- 3First Fry 🔥
- 4Heat vegetable oil in a skillet. Fry slices for about 3–4 minutes per side, until golden but not crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5Smash It! 💥
- 6Flatten each round with a tostonera or the bottom of a glass. Don’t worry if they crack a little—imperfections are beautiful!
- 7Second Fry 😋
- 8Return flattened tostones to the hot oil. Fry until crispy and golden-brown, about 2–3 minutes per side. Drain again.
- 9Garlic Sauce 🧄💚
- 10In a small bowl, mix minced garlic, olive oil, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Stir well.
- 11Dip & Enjoy 🎉
- 12Serve tostones hot with the garlic sauce on the side—or drizzle right over the top!
