Tostones con Pescado Frito (Fried Fish with Plantains)

Ingredients
- For the Fried Fish:
- 4 white fish fillets (snapper, tilapia, or cod)
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 0.5 cup flour
- 0.5 cup cornmeal (for extra crunch)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 0.5 cup milk
- 0.5 cup oil (for frying)
- 1 lime, cut into wedges 🍋
- For the Tostones:
- 2 green plantains, peeled and sliced into 1-inch rounds 🍌
- 0.5 cup oil (for frying)
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder
- 0.5 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
Instructions
- 11️⃣ Prep the Fish
- 2Pat the fish fillets dry with a paper towel. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, cumin, and paprika.
- 3In a bowl, mix flour and cornmeal. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and milk.
- 4Dip each fillet into the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
- 52️⃣ Fry the Fish
- 6Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- 7Fry fish for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
- 8Drain on paper towels and squeeze fresh lime juice over the top.

- 10Heat oil in a separate pan over medium heat.
- 11Fry plantain slices for 3 minutes per side, then remove and drain.
- 12Using a tostonera or the bottom of a glass, flatten each plantain piece.
- 13Return to the hot oil and fry again for 2 more minutes per side until crispy.
- 14Sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, and paprika.

- 16Plate the crispy fish with a side of tostones and lime wedges. Serve with *mojo* or a dipping sauce of your choice!
