Guava and Cheese Arepas

Ingredients
- For the Arepa Dough:
- 1 cup pre-cooked cornmeal (Masa Harina or Harina P.A.N.)
- 1 cup warm water
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp butter, melted
- For the Filling:
- 0.5 cup guava paste, sliced 🍈
- 0.5 cup queso blanco or mozzarella, shredded 🧀
- For Cooking:
- 1 tbsp butter or oil (for frying)
Instructions
- 11️⃣ Prepare the Arepa Dough
- 2In a bowl, mix cornmeal, warm water, salt, and melted butter.
- 3Knead until a smooth dough forms, then let rest for 5 minutes.
- 42️⃣ Shape the Arepas
- 5Divide the dough into 4 equal balls and flatten each into a disk.
- 6Place a slice of guava paste and shredded cheese in the center of each disk.
- 7Cover with another piece of dough and seal the edges gently.
- 83️⃣ Cook the Arepas
- 9Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt butter.
- 10Cook arepas for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
