Tostón Burgers with Cilantro Sauce

Ingredients
- For the Tostón Buns:
- 2 large green plantains, peeled and sliced into 2-inch rounds 🍌
- 0.5 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- 0.5 tsp salt
- For the Burger Patties:
- 1 lb ground beef 🍖
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder
- 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- For the Cilantro Sauce:
- 0.5 cup Greek yogurt or mayo
- 0.25 cup fresh cilantro, chopped 🌿
- Juice of 1 lime 🍋
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- For Toppings:
- 0.5 avocado, sliced 🥑
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 4 slices tomato 🍅
- 4 slices cheese (optional) 🧀
Instructions
- 11️⃣ Prepare the Tostón Buns
- 2Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- 3Fry plantain slices for 3 minutes per side, until golden but not fully crispy. Remove and drain.
- 4Flatten each fried plantain with a tostonera or the bottom of a cup.
- 5Return to hot oil and fry again for 2 minutes per side, until crispy. Sprinkle with salt.
- 62️⃣ Cook the Burger Patties
- 7In a bowl, mix ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
- 8Shape into 4 patties.
- 9Cook in a hot skillet over medium-high heat for 4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
- 103️⃣ Make the Cilantro Sauce
- 11Blend Greek yogurt, cilantro, lime juice, garlic, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- 124️⃣ Assemble the Burgers
- 13Place a tostón bun on the plate, add lettuce, a burger patty, tomato slices, avocado, and a drizzle of cilantro sauce.
- 14Top with another tostón bun and press slightly to hold together.
