Cuban Picadillo (Ground Beef Stew)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 0.5 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 0.33 cup green olives (sliced, pitted)
  • 0.25 cup raisins
  • 0.5 tsp oregano
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional: White rice or fried plantains for serving

Instructions

  1. 1🔥 In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. 2🧅 Add onions, garlic, and bell pepper. Sauté until softened (about 5 minutes).
  3. 3🥩 Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  4. 4🍅 Stir in the tomato sauce, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. 5🍇 Add raisins and olives. Mix well and simmer on low for another 10–15 minutes.
  6. 6🍚 Serve hot with white rice or crispy fried plantains. Don’t forget the smile!
