Ingredients

  • For the Chocolate Caliente:
  • 4 cups whole milk 🥛
  • 1 tablet (8 oz) of *Chocolate Cortés* or semi-sweet chocolate 🍫
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch 🌽
  • 0.25 cup water 💧
  • 0.25 tsp cinnamon (optional) 🌰
  • 0.25 tsp salt 🧂
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract 🌼
  • For the Mallorcas:
  • 4 mallorca sweet rolls or brioche buns 🥯
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (for each roll) 🧈
  • Powdered sugar for dusting ❄️

Instructions

  1. 1Heat the milk: In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk until it begins to steam—don’t let it boil!
  2. 2Melt the chocolate: Break up the chocolate tablet and stir it into the milk until completely melted and smooth.
  3. 3Thicken it up: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Slowly pour into the hot chocolate, stirring constantly until it thickens to your desired consistency.
  4. 4Add flavors: Stir in the cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes more.
  5. 5Toast the Mallorcas: Cut each roll in half, butter generously, and toast in a skillet until golden brown.
  6. 6Powder & Serve: Dust the tops with powdered sugar and serve warm with the hot chocolate.
