Ingredientes
- para the Carne Mechada:
- 2 lbs flank steak (o skirt steak)
- 1 white cebolla, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 4 ajo cloves, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomates
- 2 tbsp aceite de oliva
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp cumin
- sal y pepper to taste
- 1 cup carne broth o water
- para the Tostones:
- 3 plátanos verdes
- sal to taste
- Vegetable oil para frying
Instrucciones
- 1Carne Mechada:
- 2🫒 In a grande pot, calienta aceite de oliva over fuego medio. Brown the flank steak on both sides (about 4–5 min each). Remove y reserva.
- 3🧅 In the same pot, saltea cebollas, peppers, y ajo until fragrant y soft.
- 4🍅 Add crushed tomates, carne broth, oregano, y cumin. Stir well.
- 5🥩 Return the carne to the pot. Cover y simmer on low para 2.5 hours until fork-tender.
- 6🔱 Shred the carne con two forks directly in the sauce. Simmer 10 more minutes to soak up all the flavor.
- 7Tostones:
- 8🍌 Peel y slice plátanos into 1-inch chunks.
- 9🛢️ calienta oil in a sartén over mediano-high. Fry slices para 2–3 minutes per side. Remove y drain.
- 10🪵 Flatten each piece con a tostonera o the bottom de a cup.
- 11🛢️ Return to the oil y fry again until golden y crispy. sal while hot.
