Guava BBQ Ribs with Yuca
Story
As Don Luis brushed the ribs with his special guava BBQ sauce, the kitchen filled with a mouthwatering blend of sweet, tangy, and smoky aromas. “Yuca pairs beautifully with ribs,” he said, serving up a plate of tender, fall-off-the-bone pork alongside creamy, buttered yuca. This Guava BBQ Ribs with Yuca recipe features juicy, flavorful ribs and perfectly cooked yuca, making every bite an irresistible blend of comfort and tropical flair. Let’s make the Don Luis Special version, ensuring each rib is richly glazed and the yuca is creamy and satisfying! 🔥 Prep & Cook Time

- 2 lbs yuca (cassava), peeled and cut into chunks 🌱
- 4 cups water 💦
- 1 tsp salt 🧂
- 2 tbsp butter 🧈
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional) 🌿
Instructions
- 1Prepare the Ribs
- 21️⃣ Season the Ribs – In a small bowl, mix salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the mixture all over the ribs. Wrap in foil and let sit for 30 minutes (or overnight for deeper flavor). 🍖✨
- 32️⃣ Cook the Ribs – Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the ribs on a baking sheet, still wrapped in foil, and bake for 2 ½ to 3 hours until tender. 🍖🔥
- 4Make the Guava BBQ Sauce
- 53️⃣ Melt the Guava Paste – In a small saucepan over low heat, combine guava paste, vinegar, honey, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and lime juice. Cook and stir until smooth and glossy. 🍬🔥
- 64️⃣ Glaze the Ribs – Remove the ribs from the oven, open the foil, and brush the ribs generously with the guava BBQ sauce. Increase oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and return the ribs, uncovered, to the oven for 10-15 minutes until the sauce is caramelized and sticky. 🍖✨
- 7Cook the Yuca
- 85️⃣ Boil the Yuca – In a large pot, bring water and salt to a boil. Add the yuca chunks and cook for 20-25 minutes until tender. 🌱💦
- 96️⃣ Finish the Yuca – Drain and return the yuca to the pot. Add butter and gently mash or stir to coat. Sprinkle with parsley if desired. 🌿🧈
- 10Serve & Enjoy
- 117️⃣ Plate the Dish – Serve the guava BBQ ribs alongside the buttered yuca, garnished with fresh cilantro. Enjoy the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and creamy flavors! 🍖🌿✨
