The tostones took shape quickly, but what made this recipe special was the creamy crab y avocado filling — a tribute to the flavors de coastal Puerto Rico. 🏝️ Each little cup de flavor reminded him de weekends by the water, where laughter echoed louder than the waves. Instrucciones
- 1Prep the plátanos: Peel the plátanos verdes y cut each into 4 equal chunks. Soak in salted water para 10 minutes, then drain y pat dry.
- 2Fry the first round: calienta oil in a deep pan over fuego medio. Add ajo clove to flavor the oil (opcional). Fry plátano chunks until light golden (about 4–5 minutes). Remove y drain.
- 3Shape the cups: Use a tostonera o pequeño cup to press each fried plátano chunk into a cup shape. Fry again until crispy y golden brown (another 3–4 minutes). Sprinkle con sal y let them cool slightly.
- 4Make the filling: In a bowl, combine crab meat, picado en cubos avocado, lima juice, cilantro, red cebolla, y mayo/sour cream if using. Mix gently so avocado stays chunky. Season con sal y opcional spice.
- 5Assemble: Spoon the crab-avocado mixture generously into each toston cup. termina con a tiny cilantro leaf o lima zest para flair. 🍃✨
