Ingredientes
- para the Pastelillos
- 1 lb ground carne 🥩
- 1 tbsp aceite de oliva 🫒
- 2 tbsp sofrito 🌿
- 1 tsp adobo seasoning 🧂
- 0.5 tsp sazón con annatto ✨
- 0.25 cup tomate sauce 🍅
- 0.25 cup picado en cubos green olives (opcional) 🫒
- 1 packet de 8 empanada discs (store-bought o homemade) 🥟
- Oil para frying 🛢️

- 0.5 red cebolla, thinly sliced 🧅
- 0.5 green bell pepper, thinly sliced 🫑
- 0.5 red bell pepper, thinly sliced ❤️
- 2 cloves ajo, minced 🧄
- 2 tbsp aceite de oliva 🫒
- 1 tbsp vinegar (white o apple cider) 🍎
- sal y pepper to taste 🧂
Instrucciones
- 1cocina the carne: calienta aceite de oliva in a sartén. Add sofrito y saltea para 1 minute. Add ground carne, adobo, y sazón. Brown until fully cooked.
- 2Simmer the filling: Stir in tomate sauce y olives. Simmer para 5–7 minutes until thickened. Let cool slightly.
- 3Fill the discs: Place 2 tbsp de meat mixture in the center de each empanada disc. Fold y press edges con a fork to seal.
- 4Fry the pastelillos: calienta oil (350°F/175°C) y fry pastelillos 2–3 at a time until golden brown, ~3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- 5Make the salsa criolla: In a separate pan, calienta aceite de oliva. Add cebollas, peppers, y ajo. cocina until soft but still vibrant (~5 mins). Add vinegar, sal, y pepper. Toss y remove from calienta.
- 6sirve: Plate pastelillos hot con a generous spoon de salsa criolla on top o on the side!
