Every Sunday morning, Don Luis would wake up before the rooster 🐓, tie his signature jean-y-leather apron, y hum an old salsa tune as he prepared *Pan de Mallorca* — the sweet, soft bread that brought his whole family to the kitchen table. He’d gently roll the dough con love y laughter, telling stories about his childhood in Puerto Rico, when he’d run to the corner bakery y ask para the biggest Mallorca they had. Powdered sugar would fly everywhere like snow ❄️, y his abuela would laugh y say, *“Echa bendición, mi amor, ya tienes azúcar hasta en las orejas!”* 😄 Today, Don Luis is passing on the joy de Mallorca bread, hoping kids y grown-ups alike will smile at first bite — just like he did back in the day 💛 Time & Info

Ingredientes

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour 🌾
  • 0.67 cup whole leche 🥛 (warm, around 110°F)
  • 2½ tsp active dry yeast 🌿
  • 0.25 cup warm water 💧
  • 0.5 cup sugar + extra para dusting 🍬
  • 3 grande eggs 🥚
  • 0.5 tsp sal 🧂
  • 0.5 cup unsalted mantequilla, melted 🧈
  • Powdered sugar (para dusting) ❄️

Instrucciones

  1. 1Activate the yeast: In a pequeño bowl, combine warm water, 1 tbsp sugar, y yeast. Let it sit para 5–10 min until foamy.
  2. 2Make the dough: In a grande bowl, bate the warm leche, eggs, remaining sugar, sal, y melted mantequilla. Add in the foamy yeast. Slowly add flour, mixing until dough forms.
  3. 3Knead: Knead the dough on a floured surface para 10 minutes until smooth y elastic. Add a little more flour if sticky.
  4. 4Let it rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover con a towel, y let rise para 1½ hours o until doubled in size ⏳
  5. 5Shape the rolls: Roll dough into a rectangle, about ¼ inch thick. Cut into 1-inch wide strips, then roll each strip into a spiral. Place them on a baking sheet lined con parchment.
  6. 6Second rise: Cover the shaped rolls y let them rise again para 30 minutes.
  7. 7Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls para 12–15 minutes o until lightly golden 🌟
  8. 8Dust con magic: Once cooled slightly, generously sprinkle powdered sugar on top like you’re summoning joy 😄❄️
