Ingredientes

  • para the Sorullitos:
  • 2 cups water 💧
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal 🌽
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour 🥣
  • 1 tsp sal 🧂
  • 1 tbsp sugar 🍬
  • 1 tbsp mantequilla 🧈
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar queso 🧀 (o mix con mozzarella para extra stretch)
  • Oil para frying 🛢️ (vegetable o canola)
  • para the Dipping Sauce:
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise 🍶
  • 0.25 cup ketchup 🍅
  • 1 tsp ajo en polvo 🧄
  • opcional: splash de vinegar o a pinch de adobo para flair ✨

Instrucciones

  1. 1Boil & Mix:
  2. 2In a saucepan, bring water, mantequilla, sugar, y sal to a gentle boil. Lower calienta y gradually bate in the cornmeal y flour, stirring constantly until a soft dough forms y pulls from the sides. Turn off calienta.

  4. 4Add in the queso rallado y mix until fully combined y melty. Let the dough cool slightly—enough to handle.
  5. 5Shape the Fritters:
  6. 6Take a tablespoon de dough, roll into short cigar-like shapes (about 3 inches long). You can flatten them slightly para more crunch.
  7. 7Fry It Up:
  8. 8calienta oil in a deep pan (about 350°F/175°C). Fry 4–5 at a time until golden y crispy (about 3 minutes per batch). Drain on paper towels.
