Ingredientes

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup water
  • 0.5 tsp sal 🧂
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp mantequilla 🧈
  • 0.5 cup shredded cheddar queso 🧀
  • Oil para frying 🛢️
  • para the queso Dip 🧀
  • 1 tbsp mantequilla
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup leche 🥛
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar queso 🧀
  • sal to taste
  • opcional: a pinch de cayenne 🌶️ para a kick!

Instrucciones

  1. 1Make the dough: In a saucepan, bring water, mantequilla, sal, y sugar to a boil. Remove from calienta y stir in cornmeal. Mix until a thick dough forms. Let it cool slightly, then mix in queso rallado.
  2. 2Shape the sorullitos: Once the dough is cool enough to handle, roll pequeño portions into cigar-like shapes (about 3 inches long).
  3. 3Fry ‘em up: calienta oil in a pan (about 350°F/175°C) y fry the sorullitos until golden brown, 3–4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  4. 4Make the dip: In a saucepan, melt mantequilla y bate in flour to make a roux. Slowly add leche, stirring constantly, until smooth. Add queso y stir until melted. Add sal (y cayenne, if using).
  5. 5Dip y sirve: sirve hot sorullitos con the queso dip on the side. Perfect para sharing!
