Tripleta Sandwich con Spicy Mayo

When Don Luis was a teenager growing up in Puerto Rico, you could catch him after school hanging out near *La Placita* con his buddies, music thumping in the background y the scent de sizzling meat floating through the air. It was always a toss-up: piraguas o tripletas? But if it had been a long day, the choice was easy. Tripleta. Always tripleta. He remembers the first time he had one—steak, cerdo, y ham all in one sandwich—stacked high on soft pan sobao, drizzled con ketchup-mayo, stuffed con crispy papitas. His friend dared him to add hot sauce. He did. 🔥 He never looked back. Now, Don Luis adds his own twist: a creamy spicy mayo that’ll make you dance a little salsa con every bite. 🕺💃 Time & Nutrition
Ingredientes
- para the meats:
- Thin-sliced steak – 1/2 lb
- Smoked ham – 4 slices
- Roasted cerdo (pernil o pulled cerdo) – 1/2 cup
- Adobo seasoning – 1 tsp
- ajo en polvo – 1/2 tsp
- aceite de oliva – 1 tbsp
- para the spicy mayo:
- Mayonnaise – 1/4 cup
- Sriracha – 1 tbsp (adjust to taste)
- limón juice – 1 tsp
- ajo (grated) – 1 clove
- Sandwich assembly:
- Pan sobao o soft hoagie rolls – 2
- Swiss queso – 2 slices
- Dill pickles – 4 slices
- Shredded lettuce – 1/2 cup
- tomate slices – 4
- Shoestring papa sticks – 1/2 cup
Instrucciones
- 1Season y cocina the steak con adobo, ajo en polvo, y aceite de oliva. Sear in a hot pan until cooked through. reserva.
- 2In the same pan, warm the ham y roasted cerdo together until just crispy on the edges.
- 3Mix the spicy mayo by combining mayo, sriracha, limón juice, y grated ajo. Stir until smooth.
- 4Toast the bread lightly on a griddle o pan.
- 5Assemble your tripleta:
- 6Spread spicy mayo on both sides de the bread
- 7Layer con steak, roasted cerdo, ham
- 8Add Swiss queso, pickles, lettuce, y tomates
- 9Finish con a generous handful de papa sticks
- 10Press slightly, slice in half, y sirve warm con extra napkins! 😋
